The American Goldfinches in my yard are regular visitors now and they are getting more tolerant of my presence. This little autumn beauty is on the vanguard of tolerance. He watched me as he deftly picked up, shelled and ate Millet seeds in rapid succession. If you look closely, you can see that each goldfinch is unique. They have subtle patterns comprised of yellow, tan and white colors.
This guy owned his space for the few minutes I sat outside and watched him. He even chased away House Sparrows with a jab of his bill. I think the sparrows were surprised by his bravado
