When I think of an author that I respect as much as Amy Tan, I think, “That person has figured out how to be creative and how to be successful.” As if … that’s it! It was inspiring to read that she is still growing creatively. Still learning new things. I aspire to be that open to change.
I have seen Amy Tan’s drawings before and just assumed she had done this for decades! I think that was in her Masterclass. I had not heard of Kyo McClear, but boy do those quotes from her ring true to me. I also discovered birds at midlife when forced to slow down and reckon with life. Thanks for writing this.

Thank you for writing this wonderful essay, I enjoyed it very much.
This was a delightful read! Wonderful examples of the quiet peace we can achieve when we leave behind the pressures and bad habits
Learning to draw like Amy Tan might be more challenging lol!

Beautiful! Thank you.
What a lovely way to start the day! More energizing than coffee. “The beauty was there all along, but we tend to move too fast to notice it.”
This is the same conversation we’re having on my latest post. I’m jazzed to surf the waves of this message here.
Very nice, Bill! I heard an NPR interview with Amy Tan about this book; happy to read more about it now. Thank you.
